    Participants agreed that there was need to form a task force to create Wyoming’s Information Power Implementation Plan.

  • May, 2000 Passing of state legislative bill that would provide the State Library with $250,000 in funding to create a Statewide Licensed Database that every citizen of Wyoming can access for FREE! This includes the school libraries.

  • June 25-27, 2000 Lincoln County School District #1, Kemmerer, Wyoming -- Big6 Presentation by Bob Berkowitz for LCSD #1 staff and visiting librarians from surrounding areas

  • July 20-21, 2000 UWCC, Casper, Wyoming -- 1 Hour Graduate Credit Course
    Topic: Research in the 21st Century Library Media Center (ITEC) Participants had an overview of Information Power and the transformation of traditional libraries into library media centers of the 21st century. They also learned how to use the Big6 Information Processing Model in their libraries as well as in the classroom for information investigation projects. Along with computer lab time to explore numerous reference databases, there were also teacher/librarian collaboration strategies provided. 20 librarians and one teacher from across the state participated in this 2-day course taught by Jan Segerstrom as a UW/Casper College Outreach Course. Hopefully this course can be offered numerous more times throughout the school year.
    (19 librarians and 1 teacher participated in the course.)

    Created a new sub-committee that is committed to the implementation of Information Power. Members include Shelly King, Jan Segerstrom, Lesley Boughton, Lynette Anderson,, Ada Howard, and Brian Greene. One new objective was written for this sub-committee: submit a proposal to the Dept. of Education for the creation of a liaison between the State Library and the Dept. of Education.
